our history

INCEPTION AND FORMALIZATION
“Having spent a long time in prayer, and seeking the face of God, Bishop Daniel Tanui started a home family fellowship in July of 2001 in his home in Marietta, Georgia. As the fellowship gained strength and began to grow, Bishop Tanui took a step and formalized the fellowship, as an officially recognized as a church in Atlanta, GA. Bishop Tanui, consulted his long time Spiritual mentor Reverend D. Olsen, who advised him and recommended him to affiliate with his church, The Reformed Episcopal Church of South Carolina under the leadership of Bishop James West and the fellowship was fully incorporated in the State of Georgia.
THE BIRTH OF EVC
Our first service was actually held just up the street at the Wingate on Franklin Road. He received valuable support from Rev. Jason Nyaga and Charles Buyonge. A number of members began to join the church; among them Pastors Edward and Tabitha Karanja and the meeting place became inadequate to cater for the people.
EVC PRAISE AND WORSHIP TEAM
During this time, Elim Victory Choir was founded with just a handful of members, but through their commitment and diligence in serving the Lord, leading the services in Praise and Worship, the numbers of members have grown throughout the years. The Praise and Worship team were set apart by Pastors through prayerful anointing with oil whereby they renewed their commitments to the Lord and to His service, after individually receiving a word from the Lord.
OUR MOVE AND LAUNCH OF VARIOUS MINISTRIES
In 2002, the church moved to 1485 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta. We have been blessed to launch various ministries, which have continued to unify the church and also the community at large. Through the women’s and men’s ministries we have held countless pre-weddings and weddings, as well as baby showers and birthday celebrations both for our members and the community at large. Also launched were night prayers also fondly known as Keshas that have ignited the fire for spiritual growth within our members as well as the Married Couples Counseling that was an instant hit from the first meeting with the participants inquiring when the next meeting is to be held. Another of our wonderful additions is the Sunday School Ministry which started out with less than five children, but it has now grown to cater to about many children some who have even go on to college.
THE MOVING OF THE CLOUD FOR EVC
Early in 2008, the cloud had moved and the church had to once again move to another location, 1991 Davis Lane, Marietta. Through purely divine connections, The Lord led us to the new sanctuary. It is in this new sanctuary that there has been a burst of God’s anointing and God himself has put his mark on EVC, as one of the churches that he is going to use to reach the world. After 16 years the Lord has lifted us to a new dimension. We now have a new location starting January 1st, 2025 at 1547 Roswell Rd, Marietta, where we are anticipating a powerful move of God crowned with signs and wonders.
THE FUTURE OUTLOOK OF EVC
EVC has become a place of healings, miracles, deliverance and most importantly. As we look to the future, EVC is fully committed to seeking the Kingdom of God first, and tremendous blessings are anticipated as the church gives itself to seek the face of the Almighty God, as we continue to proclaim the name of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We continually strive to serve the Lord and always remember that He is Our Ebenezer. For Thus Far has the Lord brought us.
